Privacy notice
Last updated
Happening is not open yet. Right now this website runs a waitlist, a vote and a feedback form. This notice explains what we do with the details you give us when you use them.
Who is responsible for your details
Happening, Pune, India. We run this website and decide how your details are used. You can reach us at .
What we collect
- A count. When you tap "i'm in" we add one to a number. Nothing about you is saved with it.
- Anonymous counters. We count how many times the page was opened, how many people tapped, and how many emails were saved and confirmed, split by which ad campaign the link came from and which version of the headline was shown. These are plain numbers per day. They hold no personal details.
- The vote. We count the plan you pick. Nothing about you is saved with it.
- Your email, only if you choose to add it. You can pick it with Google's button (Google confirms the address, and we also receive your first name) or type it. If you type it, we save it as unconfirmed and email you a link. It only counts once you tap the button in that email. An unconfirmed email is deleted after 48 hours.
- A place number. The first 500 confirmed emails get a place number, so they can show the Founding Punekar badge when the app opens. It is saved with the email. It does not promise access to the app.
- Feedback. If you use the feedback form: your message, the topics you tick, and the name or handle you choose to add. We don't ask for your email there.
- Small notes in your browser. The page remembers that you tapped, your invite link code and your vote, using your browser's own storage. We don't use them to follow you to other sites.
- Technical logs kept by our hosting provider, such as your IP address and browser type, and short-lived scrambled records of your connection that stop scripts from inflating the count. Those are deleted within a day.
Cookies and the Meta Pixel. Only if you tap ok on the cookie bar, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) sets cookies and learns that you visited this page and that you added a confirmed email, so we can measure our ads. Meta does not receive your email address from us. If you tap no thanks, the Pixel does not load.
Why we use it
- To email you when Happening opens in your area, if you added your email.
- To give the Founding Punekar badge to the first 500 confirmed emails.
- To check whether our ads and the page are working.
- To read your feedback and decide what to build first.
You agree to this notice when you tap "i'm in". Adding an email is your choice, and for a typed email the confirm link is how you agree. We don't sell your details, and we don't send you anything unrelated to Happening.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website, stores the waitlist and counters in its database, and sends the confirmation email from hello@happening.ltd. So it sees the address it sends to.
- Google: the sign-in button is loaded from Google, which gets the usual details of the visit (we do not get your password or anything else from your Google account). Google's spreadsheet service also stores confirmed waitlist emails and feedback. Google's servers may be outside India.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), only if you tap ok on the cookie bar, as described above.
How long we keep it
We keep confirmed waitlist emails, place numbers and feedback for up to 12 months, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever is sooner. If Happening does not launch in that time, we delete the list. Unconfirmed emails are deleted after 48 hours. The anonymous counters are only numbers and may be kept longer.
Age
Happening is for people who are 18 or older. Please don't join the waitlist if you are younger. If we learn that someone under 18 signed up, we delete their details.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Email and we'll act on it. Deleting a confirmed email also gives up its place number.
Keeping it safe
The waitlist is stored in a private account with limited access. We take reasonable steps to protect it, but no system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Complaints
If something is wrong, contact our Grievance Officer first: Shriram Pawar, . We will reply within 3 working days and aim to resolve your complaint within 15 days. If you are not satisfied, you can approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top. If the change matters to you, we will email you.
